Struga is located on both banks of the Crn Drim River and on the northern shore of Lake Ohrid. The old name of an ancient settlement from the Neolithic period is Enhalon, which means eel in ancient Greek.
The city of Struga is half the size of Ohri and is very quiet and unassuming. Although it is not a tourist attraction on its own, it is a frequent destination for tourists coming to Ohrid.
If you have time left after your visit to Ohri, you can add it to your route to take a peaceful walk and enjoy the beautiful view of the Drim River passing through the city.
Also, if your trip coincides with the following months, there are some events in the city. August - Struga Poetry Evenings, July - DrimOn Festival, September - Struga musical autumn. I think the most remarkable and the one you should know about is the Vevcani Carnival in the village of Vevcani, half an hour away from Struga. The festival is held on 13 and 14 January every year. If you are coming on these dates, you can include Vevcani in your Struga and Ohrid plan and witness this festival. We did not come across it, but it is the kind of festival you want to witness.
In summer, air temperatures range from 82.4°F to 91.4°F (or 28°C to 33°C). The water temperature of the lake can reach 78.8°F (or 26°C). During the winter time of the year, average temperatures range from 41°F to 59°F (or 5°C to 15°C).

Struga can be reached by flight from St. Paul The Apostle Airport (Аеродромот Св. Апостол Павле Охрид). This airport usually receives flights from various European countries. These countries include Turkey, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries. However, it is important to note that direct flights at the airport change from time to time and may vary depending on the airlines available. It is recommended that you check the airport website or the websites of the relevant airlines for up-to-date flight information.
If you have found a flight to St. Paul The Apostle Airport, you should know that there is no public transport for this airport. It is already a very small airport and you can reach Struga by taxi for about 1500MKD, a journey that takes 10 minutes. The airport is located between Struga and Ohrid.
If you are only coming to Struga for a business trip or a visit etc. and you will not visit another city, you will not need a rental car. However, if you want to see this place by travelling alternative routes, you can also visit this place by renting a car from Ohrid Airport or Skopje Airport.
You can click on the link to get more detailed information about car hire.
On the other hand, if you are coming from a country other than the countries mentioned above or if you cannot find a suitable flight at this airport in the date range you will arrive, you need to travel to Skopje Airport. In this case, you need to first land at the airport in Skopje, go to the bus terminal from there and then make a 3.5-hour journey by bus. Or you can reach around 3 hours by private car.
The bus station is close to the bazaar and can be reached on foot. There are 10 buses from the bus station to Ohrid every day. Different companies have departure times at different times, so it is useful to buy the ticket the day before in order not to wait. The bus from Skopje to Ohrid will cost around 1000 MKD per person. You can enquire bus timetable and price information by clicking on the link. https://www.checkmybus.com/
Since there is no direct bus service to Struga, you can reach Struga from Ohri. Struga is located next to Ohrid. The distance between Ohrid and Struga is 9mile (or 15km) and you can reach Struga after a 20-30 minute journey by car.

You only need to allocate half a day for Struga.
Struga will not create a situation that will require staying quite small in terms of places to visit. However, in case there is a special situation that requires you to stay in the city, Drim Hotel is the most popular place due to its location. However, we did not stay here, we recommend it to you because of its location. For this reason, if you are going to stay, please do not forget to check the current reviews of the hotel.
The hotel is right next to the lake and the public beach called Male. There is also a central park area next to it and the river flowing on the other side. I am leaving a photo excerpt from their official website for you. I hope it will be helpful if you stay in the city.
